Community & Game Server Rules

Recommended Posts

Matrix has set forth the following rules in order to promote a healthy server environment. Rules will be enforced unilaterally, without regard to past user behavior, donation status, or any other considerations. Any user found to be in violation of the rules set forth herein will be punished at the discretion of the Matrix staff member assigned to - or in witness of - the violation. Punishments can range to and include account termination, depending on severity of infraction and user intent, as determined by Matrix staff.

Should any user come into violation of any of the rules we have set forth, please promptly report the issue to a staff member within our discord server. Please avoid using the ticket in-game ticket service, as it will result in a delayed response. Matrix does not handle players as numbers, and thus avoid using the ticket services.

1.) No Hacking/Duping/Exploiting

We feel this is a given, and shouldn’t require further explanations. Players caught using cheat programs (Speed/Fly Hack, etc) or other unintended advantages will banned from the server immediately. No exceptions will be made, and appeals will be ignored.

2.) No Trolling

The Matrix staff goes to great lengths to keep our community drama and bully free. We suggest following the golden rule: Treat others as you would wish to be treated. Violation of this rule will result in immediate account suspension. Trolling includes - but is not limited to - the following:

Flooding chat channels with ANY repetitive messages. (Recruitment/Trades/Dungeons/Memes)
Racism/ or other Discriminatory Behavior
Staff Impersonation: Pretending to be a Staff Member either to scam or threaten someone is absolutely forbidden.
Disrupting game play: Using minor exploits or poorly designed parts of game mechanics to noticeably interfere with other players' gameplay.

3.) No Bug Exploitation

Bugs do happen, and you may stumble upon them unintentionally. However: If you are found to be intentionally profiting from in-game errors, Matrix staff will punish your account accordingly. As a member of our community, it is a requirement to notify us of bugs as you find them, and not take advantage of them before they are fixed.

Example of unacceptable behavior:

  • Attacking players within Sanctuaries (PvP Disabled Zones) such as the Argent Grounds or the  Forge of Souls/Pit of Saron entryway.
  • Exploiting skills: If certain skills/spells can be used in an unusual way to exploit and create an unfair advantage over other players, avoid doing so. This includes particular spells or attacks doing exorbitant amounts of damage.
  • Exploiting a boss: If boss “X” can't hit you and you can basically solo it due to some odd position;
  • Leaving Battleground starter areas before the Battleground officially “opens”.
  • Generally speaking, exploits cannot be appealed. If you believe you have been banned for unintentionally exploiting a bug, you can contact a GM on Discord.

4.) No PvP Exploits

  • MMR Dropping: Losing in arena on purpose to lower your MMR below normal value.
  • Honor Exploit: Allowing someone to kill you or let you kill his/her toon to get Honor points in locations where it can be done fast and deliberately is not allowed.
  • Wintrading: Arranged battles in order to profit of its prizes is highly forbidden leading to bans.
  • Twinks: Using Point shop items with no-level requirements on a low level character to have advantage in PVP against any other players is NOT fair. Doesn't matter how many Points or Coins you spent to make it. You are going to have your twink force-leveled and won't be refunded.
  • Arena Boosting: It is not allowed. Neither paid, nor free.

5.) No Scamming

Acquiring any user’s items or gold via misinformation or fraud will not be tolerated. Should you be the victim of an in-game goods scam report it immediately to a GM or any staff member in our Discord. Violation of this policy will result in an immediate account termination.

C.O.D. mail scam: Attempting to scam gold from players through the mail system is not acceptable.

"Casinos": Creating in-game casinos to let people roll for gold or other in-game good is forbidden. Most often, schemes such as this end as scams and are therefore forbidden.

6.) No Trading In-Game Items/Services/Gold for Real-World Currency

The Matrix website does allow donations which can be used to purchase in-game items/services. However, in an effort to combat potential scams/feuds/drama, we do not allow users to sell their in-game goods to others for real money. Nothing good comes out of this uncontrollable environment, and thus we have a 0-Tolerance policy.

7.) No Account Trading or Selling

This rule is in place to avoid users being scammed. If you are caught trying to sell, buy, trade or give away your account(s), be it via whisper, guild chat, forums or any global channels, your account, and any accounts associated with your hardware ID, will be immediately banned.

Remember: YOU are fully responsible for any actions undertaken on your account. According to our Terms of Service, you are solely responsible for your account details.

8.) No Staff or Server Disrespect

In a perfect world, we would all get along. We know that in the real world, that doesn’t always happen, and sometimes feelings get hurt. Sometimes we say things in a moment of frustration that we regret - and so long as those statements don’t verge on open hostility, most words can be forgiven.

HOWEVER - openly disrespecting our server, or any Matrix staff member will result in immediate account termination. This rule applies universally: disrespecting staff/the server in whispers, in trade chat, or on Discord will all result in the same punishment.

If you have concerns about a staff member, feel free to open a private dialogue with said staff member, or anyone on the management team. There is absolutely no need to air grievances in public: we are all adults!

This list should not be considered exhaustive: If a GM becomes of aware of user behavior which goes against the spirit of our rules, users will be reprimanded accordingly.
